Tales of refusal

Natasza Bosiacka
The exhibition Tales of Refusal unfolds through representations of touch, glances, and gestures – through that which is difficult to describe with words. Bodies, often marginalized in the exhibition space, are not only a medium of artistic expression, serving as the subject of representations, but also invite empathy within the gallery. Their apparent unruliness is not a cultural or social defect, but a call for multisensory presence and mutual sensing – of oneself, of space, of art.
The gathered works present a bodily resistance against social norms that exclude otherness and emotional taboos. Here, bodies don’t have to justify their experiences; instead, they begin to create a new, personal narrative. They are finally allowed to resonate.
The exhibition seeks to challenge the dominant model of art reception by opening visitors to various sensory stimuli, offering scents, sounds, and tactile aids.
