Sister

The first solo exhibition in Poznań by Aneta Grzeszykowska—one of the most important and currently active Polish artists—brings together two photographic series: Mama (2018) and Córka (2025–2026). Both, like her entire artistic practice, are performative in nature, constituting an original and radical exploration of socially familiar roles—those of woman, mother, and daughter—as well as the body marked by mortality.

To create these works, Grzeszykowska employed a specially fabricated double and a mask replicating her own face at the age of fourteen. In both series, the artist’s daughter, Franciszka, also appears, her presence further blurring the boundary between art and reality.
