Pure Intention

opening

Curator: Anka Gregorczyk

The exhibition “Pure Intention” presents photographs by Rafał Swosiński. The artist works with a large-format camera, a medium that requires time, focus, and attentive observation. In contrast to the rapid production of images today, his works emerge in a rhythm of contemplation, where each shot is the result of a conscious decision and a patient wait for the right moment of light.

Swosiński focuses on both natural landscapes and those marked by traces of human presence. Solitary objects in space, fragments of architecture, rocks, trees, or mist appear in restrained, almost meditative frames. The photographed elements of the landscape function as signs—traces of time and presence—open to the viewer’s personal interpretation.

The photographs presented in the exhibition are original contact prints made using the classic silver gelatin process. They are created through the direct contact of the negative with photographic paper, without enlargement, which preserves an exceptional level of detail and tonal richness. In this way, photography regains its primary character as a physical record of light, time, and attentive seeing.

The events are co-financed by the City of Poznań.
